Who are they and why do they deserve to be congratulated?

Their names are Guy Furman, Scott Fritze, Andy Hanzlik and they deserve to be congratulated because they are visionaries with a lot of integrity! They have built an organic shrimp farm in Hurlock, Maryland called Marvesta Shrimp. This is not your ordinary farm for many reasons, but the most glaring reasons consist of the fact they are organic and their operation does not create waste that is dumped into the local waterways.

We are so fortunate to have these guys right in our backyard. They deliver live shrimp to us every week! By making the decisions to purchase organic farm raised shrimp we avoid contributing to the destruction of the sea floor. According to the Audubon Society guidelines, ‘for every pound of shrimp you buy, an average of seven pounds of other sea life is killed and shoveled overboard.’Not only do the “shrimp guys” do good things they are good people and we feel very honored to be one of their partners. On April 18th on the front page of the Food Section of the Washington Post there was a comprehensive article about their operation.
